The five-strong team from the Tipton & Coseley Building Society spent a day transforming the garden at White House Cancer Support’s premises on Ednam Road in Dudley.
Tasks ranged from mowing the lawns and weeding the pathways, to trimming back trees and bushes and painting wooden picnic benches.
The charity needs outdoor space for its service users, who include anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis. The garden is also used for fundraising activities and hosting social events.
Kelly Macchiarelli, support and information officer at White House Cancer Support, said: “It’s lovely to see the dedication from people and how they will completely go out of their way to support our charity.
“We are a small team and rely on our network of volunteers to continue our work. We maintain the garden as best we can, but to have a partner like the Tipton step up and offer a helping hand really does make the world of difference.”
White House Cancer Support is the Tipton & Coseley Building Society’s nominated charity for 2025 and colleagues will be raising money and awareness throughout the year.
In addition, the Society is aiming to deliver around 200 volunteering hours for causes within the local community.
Lucy Wingrove, the Tipton’s senior people advisor, who was part of the gardening volunteer group, said: “We know the charity has some important events coming up, so we wanted to get the garden ready and make it a nice space for them to use.
“Everyone who took part felt an enormous sense of achievement and came away with a better understanding of what the charity does.
“We’re really looking forward to a busy year of fundraising together and plan to send teams back to White House Cancer Support regularly during the summer to keep the garden looking tidy.”
