Aston Villa star shortlisted for prestigious award
Villa star Morgan Rogers has been shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.
The Halesowen-born ace is on a six-man list for the prize, after his superb season was recognised by his fellow professionals.
Rogers scored 14 goals and set up 15 more for Unai Emery’s team in all competitions as they enjoyed a strong campaign in the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.
The 22-year-old, who joined Villa from Middlesbrough for an initial fee of just £8million 18 months ago, also made his debut for the England national team.
His achievements have earned him a place on the shortlist for the prestigious PFA prize, which is voted for by PFA members.
New Chelsea signing Liam Delap also finished in top six of voting to make the list, following his impressive season for Ipswich.
Arsenal duo Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri complete the list, along with Bournemouth pair Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen. The latter recently completed a move to Real Madrid.
Rogers will be hoping to join Andy Gray, Gary Shaw, Ashley Young and James Milner on the list of Villa players to have won the award.
Milner’s win was the most recent, in 2010. The winner of his year’s prize will be announced at the PFA awards in August.
