Video footage, sent to the Express & Star, has shown the moment a suspected thief stepped over a property garden to take parcels left in front of the building.

The incident took place in Chesterton Road, Wolverhampton, on May 30, and saw two parcels taken from a property in broad daylight.

In the video, the man can be seen in a blue polo shirt, blue shorts and a black hat, stepping over the dividing fence of the property, before taking two parcels that were placed on the floor.

The daylight incident took place at around 3.30pm, with the man seen stepping over the fence before taking two parcels.

The owner of the parcels, who didn't want to be named, said: "I was in disbelief at the cheek of him actually entering the neighbour's garden to avoid the doorbell camera, obviously he didn't notice the one on the garden gate.

"It's sad because one of the parcels was a Father's day present off of my stepdaughter."

A police investigation into the incident has been launched, with West Midlands Police asking for anyone with information to contact them directly.

A force spokesperson said: "We were called about reports of a theft from outside a property in Chesterton Road, Wolverhampton, on 30 May. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.

"Anyone with information that can help our investigation is asked to contact us via 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
