'Attempted murder' charge after crowd driven at outside of Birmingham nightclub

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a number of people were injured when a car was driven into a crowd outside a Birmingham nightclub last year.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a car ploughed into a crowd outside of a Birmingham nightclub last year.

The charge comes after West Midlands Police were called to Livery Street at around 3am on October 4, where a number of people were injured when the car was driven into them outside of The Tunnel nightclub.

Mohammed Suffi, 22, of Birmingham, has been charged with attempted murder following the incident, also being accused of violent disorder and dangerous driving.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We’ve charged a man with attempted murder after a number of people were injured when a car was driven at a crowd outside a Birmingham nightclub last year.

"Mohammed Suffi, aged 22, is also accused of violent disorder and dangerous driving in connection with the incident. He was charged yesterday and remanded in custody to appear before city magistrates today (3 June)."

Six people were injured as a result of the incident, with five people in total being rushed to hospital. 

The spokesperson added: "We were called to disorder in Livery Street at around 3am on 4 October. A number of people were injured when a car was driven at a group outside The Tunnel nightclub.

"The car was then driven away from the scene. It’s believed six people were injured in all, and five were taken to hospital."

Three other Birmingham men have also now been charged with violent disorder. 

Daanyal Hussain, 20, Armaan Abid, 23, and Mustafa Gohari, 21, will appear before the same court on 20 June.
